No, our marriage isn't perfect, yes we have our differences, but I love him more than anything.
My favorite thing is that he makes me laugh. every. day.
Whether it is him wearing his safety glasses when I had to wear my awful real glasses to make me feel better, or putting goggles on in the shower, or lying on the couch and realizing he forgot to turn off the light and clapping for our butler (that we don't have) to turn the lights off, or teaching me how to laugh at myself, Mark brings a smile to my face constantly.
I am so lucky to have a guy that makes me see the good in life, and taught me how to laugh at all the little things.

Mmmm Sundays
We love Sundays at the Brandley household. Mark and I don't do homework on Sunday...we like to focus on other things and it is sooo nice to have a day with no school or work and to be able to enjoy each others company all day :)
This past Sunday was a BEAUTIFUL day...which sadly have been in short supply so far this summer with all the rain. Mark and I grabbed a blanket, our books of choice, and decided to drive up the canyon to Big Springs Park. We normally go to the park to ride the mountain biking trail, but thought we would go for a little R and R this time.
The river we laid our blanket next to...
Some handsome guy I found on my blanket... ; )
Readin some Harry Potter on my phone (I sure am re-reading all 7 before the 7th movie)
Mark's book of choice was "Into the Wild"
And this pic is from this past winter that I never got around to posting. Utah may be Utah...but you have to admit it is a beautiful place.

Yummy Yummy in my Tummy
Mark and I made....wait for it....rainbow cake!!! It is super fun to make and looks pretty cool to boot...
You just buy a box of vanilla (or funfetti) cake mix, doctor it up a little with special ingredients (sour cream etc) and dye the batter and shazam! Rainbow cake is yours. Sorry I'm too lazy to post the recipe...but I'm pretty sure you can just google search it...

Somewhere deep deep deep DEEP down
Somewhere deep deep deep deep DEEP down, Mark has a sweet, thoughtful side :) Don't get me wrong, he says sweet things to me and tells me he loves etc etc everyday. But it is a real treat when he surprises me and does something! I got home from school/work and this is what I found on the table:
If you can't read it it says, "I thought you may need some brain food to help you PUNCH those finals, projects, and papers in the face!!"
If you can't read it it says, "I thought you may need some brain food to help you PUNCH those finals, projects, and papers in the face!!"
- Mark knows how stressed I am right now. I am two projects down, one more and two more papers to go in the next 6 days...and then finals begin!
- Mark also knows that I LOVE sour punch straws :)

Lost it in 'nam
So...I love country dancing. LOVE it. Before Mark and I got married I went almost every Wednesday and Saturday night (I am lucky that he isn't the jealous type and knew how much I loved him so he didn't mind that I went dancing without him) Unfortunately for me...I married a guy who doesn't dance :( But am I a quitter? NO! Every now and then I bring up country dancing...and try to convince Mark that he would have a great time if he took me dancing. Well...on the way home from the store the other night this is our conversation:
Me: Mark, take me dancing.
Mark: Can't
Me: How come?
Mark: Well, I lost my right foot in 'nam, and they replaced it. Unfortunately, when they replaced it, they replaced it with a left foot. Now I have two left feet.

From 0 to 10 in 0 days
Here's how it went down:
Me: Hey Meliss! You're still training for your half-marathon right?
Melissa: Yup
Me: Are you running this weekend, if so how far?
Melissa: 10 miles
Me: Okay! Count me in!
Melissa: Have you been running?
Me: Well, I ran 3 miles like two weeks ago...
Guess what guys?! I ran 10 miles and made it all the way, and felt pretty good the whole way. That's right. However...when Melissa and I stopped running so we could cool down about a block from the house...I realized my mistake. As soon as my legs stopped going, I realized I was shaking and literally could barely walk. I stopped in my tracks, looked at Melissa, and said "Holy Moly Meliss, I can't walk, my legs are shaking!" Melissa's response you ask? "Well I can't piggy-back you. Come on" So I slowly, painfully, walked the block. Then I saw the huge hill (okay really it was the gentle slope of the driveway...) and exclaimed "I don't think I can make it up this hill!" At this point Melissa and I started laughing really hard, only to add to my discomfort. Who knew laughing could take so much out of you? We grabbed some refreshment and went straight upstairs to our "hot tub" a.k.a the bath tub in the master bedroom. We threw on our swim suits and hopped right in.
The next few days were spent limping around the house.
Totally worth it.
